Panasonic’s Exit from the Communications Scene

Posted By Advent Technologies

On December 1st, 2020, Panasonic Corporation announced that they would be shutting down the Unified Communications portion of their business.  Sales of new hardware will continue for 2 more years, with support and replacement products extending for another 7 years beyond that.

Like everything Panasonic does, their exit from this market will be slow and deliberate.  This is good for those that have invested in the Panasonic platform, as there will be nearly a full decade of future support.  We will continue to maintain our relationship and dealership status with Panasonic to ensure ongoing support for our thousands of Panasonic customers.  There is also the possibility of Panasonic’s Unified Communications division getting purchased by a competitor, extending the life of these products even further.

This doesn’t really surprise us as Panasonic’s slow pace, while great for developing rock solid hardware, has left them far behind in a fast moving landscape of software players.  Knowing our customers needed something a little more advanced, we became a 3CX dealer a few years ago, and are ready to move forward with the next generation of phone systems.

That said, if you’re just looking for a rock solid phone system, we can still help you out with a Panasonic System.
